Why aren't more of us doing it??

Working in health I cannot ignore that stress is a constant feature in our lives. Our fight/flight mechanism is continually being called into action. We have the same physiology yet our lifestyle has changed drastically form even 50 years ago. We probably have to make more decisions in a day than our ancestors had to make in a year. This  coupled with a variety of factors such as work deadlines, financial pressures, relationship issues and our sometimes fractitous life, affects  and compromises both our cardiovascular system and our immune systems. You don't have to have a diagnosed disease to not be well.

Meditation helps us to diffuse this pressure by focusing on the only thing  that actually exists, this moment here and now. Having a mind free of distraction  and a feeling of clarity and spaciousness engenders a state of peacefulness and this is an awesome experience.

For me personally, meditation has allowed me to see more of who I am. The changes I have experienced have been subtle, but profound. With practice I am more able to cope with the demands of life from a different perspective. This reinforces to me my new paradigm, that we can change our lives by changing our perspectives.

Miracles do happen. We do hear of people who have survived a serious health condition beyond all medical expectation but in my experience this only happens when there has been a shift of consciousness.  Personal transformation results through making significant changes in diet, support groups (love) and meditational practices.

If meditation came in capsule form  it would be the biggest selling drug of all time. What else boosts the immune system, slows down the ageing process, relieves stress, makes us happier and more effective thinkers. You have to ask the question why aren't more of us doing it????
